There's an Important Infant Bath Recall You Need to Know About

Summer Infant has announced a recall of its bath sling attachment for a popular bath tub model.
Attention, parents of babies! Summer Infant is recalling 86,000 baby bath slings due to the risk of submersion and drowning.

If you own a Lil' Luxuries Whirlpool, Bubbling Spa & Shower bathtub made by Rhode Island-based baby product manufacturer Summer Infant, you should know the fabric sling that secures the headrest to the bath frame to aid in supporting newborns and infants at bath time is missing a white plastic clip and can become detached.

Luckily, no serious injuries or drownings have been reported, although the Consumer Product Safety Commission reports there have been 91 incidents of the slings detaching, and 11 babies have bumped their heads.

The recalled baths are made for use by children ages birth to 2 years old, and were sold between October 2012 and October 2013 for around $60 at stores like Toys R Us. The affected products include the following item numbers, according to the company's website: 18840, 18850, 18863, and 18873. Look for date codes starting with 1210, 1211, 1212, 1301, 1302, 1303, 1304, 1305, 1306, 1307, and 1308.
