Could it be that Hallmark was not insured !!

Yesterday the heartbreaking news of the razing of the biggest shopping mall (hallmark) in Benin by fire was the talk of the whole town and the major news headline nationwide.

The managing Director of the mall, Mr Philip Edigin stated that the fire  started at midnight, and all efforts to get the state fire service proved abortive. He also said that an unamed official told him there was no diesel to work. He was later able to get help from the Nigeria Air Force Fire Service, IDSL, NPDC and UNIBEN, before the State Fire Service finally arrived at 6:am.

Nevertheless, some members of the public while trying to analyse the incident has stated that the mall was not insured. They based their argument on the ground that an organisation that doesn't have a fire or smoke detector couldn't have dimmed it right to get the company insured. Why some core Nigeria traditionalists have also related the occurrence of such incident as not 'ordinary' but as an attempt by someone to bring about the downfall of the Owner.
